What are the benefits?

If you are hired as a Police Officer during fiscal years 2022-23 and 2023-24, you will receive an incentive payment of $20,000 that will be paid as follows: Fifty percent (50%) paid upon employment, twenty-five percent (25%) paid after the first day of the second year, and twenty-five percent (25%) paid after the first day of the third year. Final payments may occur after June 30, 2024, dependent on hire date.

Full-time, twelve-month employees receive 18 days of annual paid holidays, 15 days’ vacation yearly (with increases after 10 years), and 8 hours of sick leave per month. You are eligible for the aforementioned benefits as a regular employee with a permanent assignment of 0.50 FTE or greater. To calculate this position’s FTE, take the number of hours per week divided by 40, to get the percentage of hours worked. Then take the number of months worked divided by 12, to get the percentage of work year. Then take the percentage of hours worked divided by the percentage of months worked to get the position’s FTE (e.g., a position that is 30 hours per week with a work year of 12 months: 30/40 = 0.75; 12/12 = 1; 0.75/1 = 0.75 FTE). 

What are the requiremnts to be an officer?

EXPERIENCE: Must be 21 years old. 
 
EDUCATION/ SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Possess and maintain all the requirements of the position, including but not limited to, the following: The requirements of applicable Government Code Sections, including but not limited to, sections 1029, 1030, 1031. Successful completion of a basic academy, or equivalent, certified by the commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST), license to carry firearms, and meet all POST Peace Officer Selection Requirements by the date of hire. Must be 21 years old. Possess and maintain a valid California Driver’s License in compliance with Los Rios Board Regulation R-8343. This position may require operating a District or personal vehicle in order to complete assigned work within the scope of the position duties. Possess and maintain a valid first aid certificate issued by an authorized agency, and a valid cardiopulmonary resuscitation certificate within 30 days of a conditional offer of employment. 
 
Successfully complete a campus law enforcement course within two years of employment.
